Fireplaces are independent or wall-mounted indoor heating devices that use combustibles as energy sources and have chimneys inside. They originated from heating facilities in Western homes or palaces.
Because its fuel is a renewable resource, modernization and improvement are still widely used in the West, especially in the higher education class who advocate environmental protection concepts. There are two types of fireplaces: open and closed. The latter has much higher thermal efficiency.
